Elisabeth Sparkle: There was a bit of substance abuse
Synopsis
A fading celebrity takes a black market drug: a cell-replicating agent that temporarily creates a younger, better version of himself. Ray Liotta starred in the film in February 2022, but died in May of the same year before he could shoot his scenes. Dennis Quaid replaced him, but Liotta is still mentioned in the director’s “Thank You Notes” at the box office. The toilet mirror will reappear intact after being repeatedly broken during a fight. Special thanks to the many additions of the theater covered in blood in the endnote.
I’ll start with the positives
Featured in The 7PM Project: September 20, 2024 episode (2024). Pump It Up Written by Michael Hall, Leonardo Stella Performed by Earl Gregory Produced by Julien Deguines. There are a LOT of them. Casting? Perfect.
Pretty much flawless
acting? All the performances drew me in and contributed a lot to the story. The concept was phenomenal and very interesting. A really great idea for a movie. The description was unique and very good.
So why 6 stars?
The result also greatly increased uncertainty. The first 2 thirds of the movie portrayed all these things in the right way. READY. He took the compelling and exciting aspects of the story and threw them out the window in favor of the director’s Cronenbergian fantasy and desire to maximize the special effects budget. It felt completely disorganized, almost like they had no idea what to do with the ending, or desire to make it interesting.
Notes: Enough kicking
A movie with so much that I left the theater disappointed. We understand what you’re trying to do, that’s enough. If you also want to disgust your audience, put the magazine in the writers’ room. Adding screeching sounds to almost every scene is lazy. Check out our list of exciting new films from this year’s film festivals, including Venice, TIFF, New York Film Festival and more.
